Maybank Indonesia Digital Banking Services Win International Awards

 

Amidst the rapid development of digital technology, especially in the banking sector, PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk. ("Maybank Indonesia") was recently named "Best Digital Bank" at the 3rd Global Retail Banking Innovation Awards 2020 organized by Digital Banker, a leading publication and research media in the banking industry based in Singapore.

The presentation of this award took place online on December 3, 2020 and was attended by banking industry figures from various parts of the world who competed for awards in 13 categories including Technology, Digital Innovation , and Best Retail Bank in Asia, Europe and America.

Michel Hamilton, Chief Strategy, Transformation & Digital Officer, Maybank Indonesia, who attended the award ceremony, said, “We are honored by the achievement and recognition of the digital services offered by Maybank Indonesia, which has become one of the leading banks in the global arena. Maybank Indonesia's digital services include M2U for individual customers, M2E for corporate customers, and the use of digital banking services amid a pandemic that limits mobility and personal movement, and has seen a rapid increase in activity.

This situation encourages an acceleration of the adoption of digital banking services, as stated by Bank Indonesia, which recorded an increase in digital transactions or Electronic Money (EU) during the implementation of PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions) in April 2020 by 64.48% on an annual basis, while the volume of digital transactions grew 37.35% on an annual basis. In determining award winners, Digital Banker used a self-developed assessment methodology and determined scoring based on qualitative and quantitative data, combined with assessments of financial performance, brand value, corporate and leadership strategies, digital transformation processes, innovation, and organizational and resource capabilities.
