Since end of 2015, we have started to support "Maybank Women Eco Weavers" program, an empowerment program directed to women beginner weavers by using natural dyes. Coming with full support from the Maybank Foundation, this program aims to promote and increase the existence of traditional weaves to global level audience by maintaining a sustainable pattern, creating economic independence, and inclusive finance for the women weavers.
This Maybank Woman Eco Weavers (MWEW) initiative by Maybank Indonesia and Maybank Foundation, in partnership with the Association for Women Assistance in Micro Business (ASPPUK), is focused on providing training in weaving, weaving pattern creation and natural dyes production, as well as marketing and financial literacy. This program will be on-going until the end of 2018, training 400 weavers in 4 districts namely Sawahlunto, Tanah Datar, Central Lombok, and East Lombok.
