Mutual Funds Guide

Hearing the word THR or Tunjangan Hari Raya must be identical to Eid al-Fitr. THR is an income right for workers that is given before the Eid celebration. Some of us sometimes become consumptive in using THR money considering that there are so many things to buy in welcoming Hari Raya, such as buying new clothes, Eid cakes and exchanging money to be shared with relatives. However, we should also be wise in organizing and managing the THR that we get. You can consider setting aside some of your THR money for investment, such as mutual fund investment. Before choosing to allocate your THR for Mutual Fund investment, lets know what are the benefits of Mutual Fund investment:

1.   Professional Personnel

Professionally managed by experienced Investment Managers who are experts in their fields, so investors do not need to analyze the market fundamentally and technically.

2.   Cheap and Easy

The initial deposit of the Mutual Fund is relatively low, starting from Rp100,000. Investors can sell their Mutual Funds at any time without worrying about finding a buyer at the right price, because the Investment Manager is obliged to buy back units from investors.

3.   Transparency and Protection

Mutual Fund prices are published in a number of media and the investment funds are kept with a third party called the Custodian Bank (BK), not the Investment Manager. All Mutual Fund activities are supervised by the Indonesian Government through the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

4.   Reducing Risk Through Diversification

In Mutual Funds, funds will be diversified into various investment instruments such as stocks, bonds and deposits. Diversification is a way to reduce risk in investing.

Maybank presents the convenience of investing in just one hand through the M2U ID App. There are several types of Mutual Funds that you can choose from, such as:

  • Money Market Mutual Fund

Mutual Funds that invest in domestic money market instruments, as well as debt securities issued with a maturity of not more than 1 (one) year, and/or the remaining maturity of not more than 1 (one) year such as deposits, fixed income and Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI). Money Market Mutual Fund has very low risk, making it suitable for conservative investors.

  • Fixed Income Mutual Fund

Mutual funds that invest at least 80% of investment funds in debt securities, such as government bonds and corporate debt securities that have a maturity of more than one year. Fixed Income Mutual Fund has a higher risk than Money Market Mutual Fund, it can be an option for moderate investors.

  • Balanced Mutual Fund

Mutual Funds that invest in equity securities, debt securities, and/or domestic money market instruments, each with a maximum of 79% of the investment fund, where the Mutual Fund portfolio must contain equity securities and debt securities. Like Fixed Income Mutual Funds, Balanced Mutual Funds also have a medium risk level.

  • Equity Mutual Fund

Mutual Funds that invest at least 80% of the managed funds in equity securities (stocks). Equity Mutual Funds have a higher risk than other Mutual Funds, suitable for aggressive investors. With a fairly high risk, of course, there is also an opportunity to get a higher return than other types of Mutual Funds.
